Why CBD Dabbing Can Work for Pain Relief

Dabbing. Though normally considered a frequent dance in classrooms thanks to the prevalence of Fortnite, dabbing is in fact also an alternative method of marijuana consumption.

Instead of having to light up a joint or make cannabutter, you can instead vaporize some CBD dabs and consume a wickedly potent amount of CBD hassle free.

Dabbing is becoming increasingly popular as a way to get CBD, especially for pain relief, which is one of the most common reasons people take CBD in the first place. In this article, we look into the practical effects of dabbing CBD for inflammation and pain reduction.

What is Dabbing CBD?

Despite its insipid name, the effects of CBD dabbing are anything but. Dabs are essentially pure extracts of THC or CBD waxes or resins. In comparison to the relatively low amounts of cannabinoids found in buds you grind and smoke in a joint, dabs can contain intense concentrations of cannabinoids, approaching 95% potency.

Dabs are vaporized using a water pipe or vaporizing pen – whichever you choose is up to you. Vaporizing pens have become a fashionable accessory in recent times, with every street in every major city being blessed with a thick, vaporous billow of vape smoke about every 3 seconds. However, if you enjoy being a part of the old school crowd, you can get a full water pipe with a vaporizing nail, and get a much more complete experience.

Plus, watching the dab become vaporized almost instantly is extremely satisfying to watch.

CBD dabbing is usually done for specific medical purposes, especially in comparison to partaking in recreational marijuana. The main problems with imbibing marijuana for the purpose of medication are twofold:

First, it’s rather disruptive to get high every single day. Though your THC tolerance will eventually mature to the point of not being debilitated after every dose, some people prefer to avoid the psychoactive effects of regular THC usage when they’re just after pain relief. For this reason, CBD dabbing is preferred.

Secondly, the type of people who prefer not to constantly ingest THC are also likely concerned about lung damage through the traditional method of cannabis usage – smoking.

When you smoke, you combust the plant material and the smoke and toxins are absorbed into your lungs. Though likely not as dangerous as smoking cigarettes, marijuana joints can still cause damage to your lungs over time.

To combat this, CBD dabs rise to the challenge and offer a smoke-free, THC-free experience (if done right) that allows users to get the pain relief and medical aspects of cannabis without the bother of getting high — or having to inhale the acrid fumes of a joint.

But why do people use CBD dabs for medical purposes? What medicinal benefit do people receive from using these resinous, highly potent pieces of wax?

Why We Use CBD Dabs for Pain Relief

CBD dabs are taken as a medicine to help combat a variety of conditions and symptoms, the most common of which are insomnia, anxiety, pain, and depression.

However, CBD dabs have developed a reputation for treating one specific condition better than most, and that is pain.

Pain as a concept is a rather nebulous one, as it is something everyone feels at one time or another. To an unafflicted person, pain is something manageable and treatable – so what if you’re in pain?! Take some ibuprofen and just get on with your day!

However, the type of people that need to medicate their pain away are those suffering from chronic conditions such as arthritis, or from neurological pain. These types of pain exist without any kind of good reason – when you burn yourself on the stove, it makes sense that you would feel pain until it heals.

With something like arthritis, however, you haven’t done anything to deserve the pain — it’s just there, constant and persistent, always aching and uncomfortable. And with neurological pain, the pain is a result of misfiring neurons, causing pain when there shouldn’t be any. You can’t treat the area or do anything to the nerves – you just have to live with it.

There are of course other medicines that exist to help treat pain, but the problem is they typically have their own issues with frequent use. With opioids like Vicodin, for example, you can develop a severe addiction to the hydrocodone within it, as well as experiencing unpleasant side effects like constipation and disorientation. And with regular-strength painkillers like Tylenol, they just aren’t enough to help overcome the feelings of intense pain.

This is why more and more frequent sufferers are looking towards cannabis as a treatment for their pain, and from here, people are beginning to look towards CBD dabs as a way to ingest potent amounts of CBD easily and without complication.

However, why (and how) does CBD dabbing help with pain? What is it about CBD that helps abate the sensation of pain in the nervous system?

How CBD Dabbing Works against Pain

CBD is not usually the first thing that people think of when considering marijuana as pain relief. They normally expect relief to come from the THC within cannabis, as well as the associated psychoactive high that comes with it.

However, CBD can be an effective pain reliever due to the way it interacts with your endocannabinoid system, and it’s completely non-psychoactive. When you ingest CBD, it interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors within the ECS, thereby triggering a series of different reactions.

The two different CB receptors help control a variety of different bodily functions. For example, the CB2 receptor is thought to be linked with the healthy regeneration of cells, as well as the inflammation response. The CB1 receptor, however, is predominantly located within the brain and central nervous system, and this it is related to our pain response.

Various studies have been carried out into the capacity for CBD to interact with the nervous system to both stop pain and reduce inflammation. One of the most famous of these studies was carried out by Carrier et al., wherein the CB2 receptor was discovered to trigger an adenosine receptor, A2A. This receptor triggers the inflammatory response in the body, thereby allowing patients to reduce inflammation by consuming CBD.

In the brain, the CB1 receptors have a great deal to do with our body’s capacity to feel pain, as noticed in a study by Hill et al. that looked at cannabis in general as an effective pain reliever. By triggering the CB1 receptors using CBD, the brain was instructed to essentially abate the sensation of pain, in the same way in which inflammation can be turned off.

The body’s pain response is very similar to the body’s fever or inflammation response; it is created to alert you that you are injured in some way, so as to allow you to take caution or treat yourself. By using CBD, we can essentially turn off this response and make it a lot easier to live comfortably — especially when dealing with a chronic pain-related disease.

In yet another recent study by Dr. Ethan Russo, the pain relief capabilities of both CBD and THC were investigated. In a number of trials that tested pain victims with both THC and CBD extract products, researchers found that the CBD products were crucial in creating long-term pain relief.

This was because CBD not only interacted with CB1  to encourage cessation of the pain sensation, but also because it triggered the CB2 receptor, thereby helping with cellular regrowth.

There is also a great deal of evidence (such as in the study conducted by Drs. Elizabeth Rahn and Andrea Hohmann) to demonstrate that CBD can help reverse neurological pain. It appears to do this by helping damaged neurological cells to regenerate properly, rather than continuing to malfunction and instigate the pain response.

In the case of neurological pain, the affected nerve cells are so damaged that they cannot repair themselves, instead continuously firing neurons around the nervous system and making the body think it is injured and in pain.

CBD, through interaction with the CB2 receptor and its encouragement of cell regrowth, helps in the nervous system cell’s recovery.

CBD dabbing is an effective method of getting these benefits into your system because of the intense concentrations of the dabs, as well as the speed with which they enter your system. When compared with smoking marijuana or taking CBD oil, dabs are extremely efficient at entering your bloodstream. This is because instead of having to process the plant matter or digest the oil in your stomach, you are breathing in the directly vaporized CBD.

With regard to concentrations, CBD dabs can be as much as 95% pure CBD, meaning you are able to tailor almost exactly how much CBD you want in your system, and then imbibe exactly that much. This means you are able to get a massive amount of CBD into your system quickly, efficiently anhassle-freeee.

Final Thoughts on CBD Dabs for Pain Relief

CBD has been long since demonstrated to be an effective pain reliever, both in the cases of short time pain from injuries and in the case of long-term, chronic pain like in neurological conditions or arthritis.

When dabbing CBD for pain relief, users can consume CBD in precise, exact measurements. Additionally, they are able to do so while on the go using a vaporizer pen, or at home in more precise comfort – and style – using a water pipe.

Being in pain is never easy, especially if from a comparatively untreatable, chronic condition. So if you’re struggling with intense pain on a daily basis, consider using CBD dabbing to help treat it. You might not be as cool as if you were doing the dance, but you’ll certainly have the potential to feel a lot better, as well as getting potent, natural, hassle-free relief.

Getting Started with CBD Oil

If you suffer from anxiety (like me), depression or pain and are looking to get started with CBD oil, you need information on how to buy CBD oil, or you’re simply looking to learn more about CBD products, you’ve arrived at the right place.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, aka CBD, is a compound found in the cannabis plant that has significant medical benefits. CBD can be extracted from two different species of the Cannabis Sativa L plant, which include Cannabis and Hemp. Unlike its rival THC, CBD does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC.

One of the main advantages of CBD is its non-psychoactive affect making it a great option for people looking for relief from inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, seizures, spasms, and other conditions.

As I mentioned above the primary distinction between Hemp and CBD oil is the part of the plant they are derived from and what parts of the plant are used to create the oil. Hemp oil is typically made from pressing cannabis seeds to extract the fatty oil from within, while some that have mastered the CBD extraction process also use the flowers as they contain high percentages of CBD. CBD oil, on the other hand, is usually made from the flowers of cannabis plant through various extraction methods.

How Does CBD Affect Your Body?

The way marijuana affects your body varies from person to person as it will often depend on genetics, tolerance to the cannabinoids, medical health, DNA, and more. It also depends on the way you consume the CBD, for example, the effects of vaping CBD are far different to smoking it in the form of high-CBD cannabis strains.

CBD and the way it affects us is still of somewhat a mystery to researchers they still try to figure out how it effects the EndoCannabinoid system. During the previous century, it was discovered that our bodies have receptors within the brain and central nervous system. Specific cannabinoids such as CBD bind to those receptors and activate the EndoCannabinoid System (ECS). This then provides a wide range of psychological and physical benefits helping the body.

Without going into specifics, cannabinoids signal to the body to create endocannabinoids and build more receptors. This helps the body to limit things associated with pain and inflammation, repairs cells and provides a wide range of other health benefits. Unlike other cannabinoids, CBD is thought to be the ultimate anti-inflammatory cannabinoid.

Medical Benefits of CBD

There is a misconception as to whether CBD can help treat patients, similar to pharmaceutical medicine, but thanks to the internet and a few different medical studies patients and researchers have been exposing their findings on how CBD oil is helping to cure a wide range of medical conditions.

The most popular story was the one of Charlotte Figi. At the time Charlotte was only 6 years old. As a little girl, she was experiencing over 300 epileptic seizures per week until she was successfully treated by a CBD-rich strain oil, later named Charlotte’s Web.

The high-quality CBD oil, changed her life, helping her to overcome a 6-year battle. Since her story hit the news, CBD and other cannabinoids of the cannabis plant are constantly being researched to understand how they can help to treat different medical conditions. As a matter of fact, CBD has been thought to help treat over 170 medical conditions, among them severe conditions such as Anorexia, Cancer, Arthritis, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, Insomnia, Glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and PTSD.

Recent studies have even shown that CBD, may cure life-threatening diseases by altering genes. Other studies have proven that it might even be an effective treatment for osteoarthritis and chronic pain.

The way that CBD works is that it interacts with receptors located in different parts of the central nervous system. These receptors are called CB1 and CB2. Both reflect the areas of the brain they interact with such as the limbic system. When taking CBD, this cannabinoid locks in on these receptors and affects the body in different ways. For example, it can help to block the pain caused by specific medical conditions.

While numerous studies have shown promising results, it is important to understand that CBD research is still at premature stages. A 2011 study that researched CBD for fibromyalgia showed extremely promising results. 56 of 112 participants who took CBD in the form of oil saw a great reduction in their symptoms and pain, while those using traditional methods didn’t see hardly any improvement.

Can you Buy CBD if you live in an illegal state?

The process is not cut-&-dry, and but thanks to the Farm Bill of 2014, forms of CBD can now be delivered to your doorstep. Those that live in recreational states can purchase CBD cannabis oil which is high in potency and extremely effective for helping to treat severe medical conditions, while those that live in other states that are not medical or recreational can benefit from CBD hemp oil. CBD Hemp oil is perfect for helping to treat a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression and acute pain.
